Protect Your Child’s Vision

January 01, 2022

Nearly 80% of children's learning comes through the eyes, so it's important that any vision problems are corrected early.

Children should first be seen by an eye doctor at around 6 months of age, at 3 years old, before first grade, and then yearly, depending on risk and doctor recommendation.

Here are a few signs you should look for that may indicate signs of eye and vision problems in children:

  • Frequent eye rubbing

  • Short attention span
  • Avoiding reading
  • Covering one eye
  • Tilting head to one side
  • Holding reading materials close
  • An eye turning in or out
  • Seeing double
  • Losing place when reading
  • Difficulty remembering what was read
